About 1461 Squadron

1461 Squadron is located in South Wigston, Leicester, in the heart of England. It is one of 29 squadrons in South and East Midlands Wing and all 29 are situated in the counties of Leicestershire, Northamptonshire, Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Rutland. The squadron number is usually pronounced 'fourteen-sixty-one' as it slips off the tongue a bit easier!

What we do
We meet twice a week at our squadron headquarters and also on a number of weekends during the year to undertake a wide variety of activities. During our parade nights we have a programme that includes target shooting, sports, leadership training, exercises and study towards cadet classifications. Most weekends there are one or more activities in which the squadron participates; sometimes this is for a few cadets, and others where the whole squadron takes part.

We are a lively and successful Squadron - take a look around this website to see all of the activities we participate in.

Who's at 1461 Squadron
The squadron is made up of cadets, staff and a civilian committee, all of which are volunteers. There are more details of who we are and how we are organised on our Squadron's structure page.
